DIY Foaming Hand Soap

This week I am featuring how to make your own, safe, toxin-free, foaming hand soap. So, find an old foaming hand soap dispenser that you have left over or buy one here and let's get started!
You will need unscented liquid castile soap. I like this one because it's generally cheaper than the name brand. You will also need vegetable glycerine, which you can also find on Amazon for around $6 a bottle. Lastly, you will need your essential oils and some distilled water. For this recipe I am using lavender and lemon essential oils.
Grab your empty and clean foaming hand soap dispenser and add 2 Tablespoons of unscented liquid castile soap.
Next, add 2 teaspoons of vegetable glycerine. Or if you are like me, just use the same tablespoon and be lazy ;) After all, a little more of this or that never hurts.
Now you get to add your essential oils! If you don't know where to get oils, click here to get started. The cost my seem high, but the oily possibilities are endless, and when you are only using a few drops at a time, it lasts a while!
Once your oils are added, fill the rest of the bottle about 3/4 of the way with distilled water. This will allow enough room for that bulky pump to fit in there without spillage. Once the cap is on tightly, gently swirl the contents to blend. Do not shake or it will get super bubbly.
So, what why not just go out and buy your own hand soap? The same reason we DIY-- it's cheaper! Most store bought organic hand soaps will range from $3- $6 for a bottle this size. The nice thing about this recipe is that once you have these ingredients in your cupboard, you can make refill after refill after refill.
$2.12 is hard to beat! And if you are a bargain shopper, you may be able to cut costs even further by getting your castile soap and glycerine cheaper. Don't skimp on the oils though, the cheaper your oils are, the more likely those containers of oils are filled with ingredients other than pure oil.
