Date Cards For Kids!

For a couple of years now, we have been keeping a tradition of intentionally spending one on one time with our kids. We have 4 kids and things tend to get a little busy and crazy and time just goes too fast.

In the years past, we used date cards that we found online. The dates provided a monthly card that included a special activity with either Mom or Dad (6 dates for Mom, 6 Dates for Dad). Some of the activities included going to the movies, going mini golfing, going shopping for a new outfit, etc. These were super fun to do, but also super expensive.

So, this year, we decided that we would change it up and create our own date cards with the intention of TIME spent instead of MONEY spent. At the start of each month, the kids (ages 3 and up) get to choose 1 date card. Some of the date cards are seasonal like "building a snow fort", so it's necessary for kids to pay attention to such details when choosing.

As I said, there are 6 cards for Dad and 6 cards for mom. The printable comes with 2 blank ones in case some of these ideas don't work for you. For example, we were given a canoe from my parents, that is where our "go for a boat ride" date card came from. Don't get too excited, no fancy boats over here ;)

To use, print out, cut out, and display how you desire. I keep mine on a string and hang them on a magnetic fridge hook. Each kid has their own set with their name on the back.

We hope you are able to enjoy using these date cards with your kids. We have found that our kids THRIVE with this one on one time. They are so appreciative to be given the attention they don't always get from our busy household.
